Time flies when you stuff your face in a park...

Over the past few weeks, Paris has turned into a completely new city. Temperatures have gone well into the 60s, and the sun has shone every day. As soon as class lets out, we pick a spot that's green and go. Like the other day when a bunch of us found this incredible park atop a hill in the 19th arrondissement, Le Parc des Buttes Chaumont.

A rocky island topped with a gazebo stands as the centerpiece of this gorgeous park. The gazebo itself was modeled after a temple in Tivoli, Italy. Surrounding the island are rolling hills made up of twisting pathways, winding brooks, and towering waterfalls.  An awesome place you would never expect to find in the middle of a sprawling metropolis like Paris. We set up a blanket and went to town on veggies, cheese, snacks, and of course, a bit of wine. Sparkling wine actually, which we classed up with some orange juice. Not a bad afternoon whatsoever.

We housed every piece of food on that blanket. Guess that's what happens when you chill in a park for 5 hours. The best part was that we were surrounded by tons of other people doing the exact same thing - sitting, reading, eating, drinking. All in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon. Why these people weren't at work was a mystery to me, but being that my most difficult homework assignment that day was a word search, I had plenty of time to kill. And killed it we did, exploring the entire park and eventually making our way to the top of the rocky island mountain.

We didn't realize how long we had been there until the sun started to go down. Another day in Paris well spent.
